A hand hammer (weight 300 gram) will be useful when mounting the cat shelf to the wall. When drilling holes, you must place the dowels in them deep enough to the collar. The hammer is necessary then.
Contrary to appearances, the correct positioning the dowels in the wall is important. The point is that the dowels should be completely hidden in the wall, that is, its collar does not protrude beyond the plane of the wall. Only then the mounted shelf will be stably fixed and stiffened. Otherwise, the shelf will wobble when the cat jumps on it, which can further damage the surface of the wall.
